Miyamoto New Zealand was contracted by Cylinder Head Specialist to provide the structural design for a proposed new commercial, multi-tenancy building.
The structure comprises of four units constructed with concrete precast panel walls, which act as fire barriers between the units. The roof is a lightweight DHS purlin roof supported on steel portal frame rafters and the concrete precast panels. The foundation is concrete strip footings fixed adjacent to the base of the concrete panels. Miyamoto took the time to understand the project concept and deliver design work that fit the clients needs.
The site presented unique challenges during the Covid-19 restrictions, as construction work was put to stop. However, once completed, the final product was well validated with interest from tenants requesting an early space on this building.
